Coming at you with yet another super fun, super adorable, child-friendly, Halloween treat that you and your family/guests are bound to love…my Mummy Hot Dogs! Guys…for real…I even make these hot dogs when it’s not Halloween (although I omit the eyes, because that would just be weird). They are not only really cute, they are also crazy delicious! What do I love about these? Well…I love crescent rolls…and I love a good hot dog (every so often)…and I love that kids can absolutely help making them! I won’t waste a whole lot of time pleading my case on making these little guys, because some things just speak for themselves. I mean…look at them…how could you NOT want to make these?

So here’s what you’re going to need to make these hot dogs: Pillsbury® crescent rolls, Ball Park® hot dogs, mild cheddar cheese, and small candy eyes. Now, I don’t usually specify the usage of certain brands unless I think altering the brand will alter the taste significantly. This is one of my recipes where I will definitely encourage you to use the brands I specify in the recipe. I promise you…you won’t regret it!

Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F and preparing a large sheet pan by lining it with parchment paper; set aside.

On a separate sheet of parchment paper, roll out your entire can of crescent rolls. Then, press the perforations together firmly to create one full sheet. With a pizza cutter, carefully cut your crescent roll sheet into 10-12 (same number of hot dogs you choose to use) thin strips.

Wrap one of your crescent roll strips around each of your hot dogs, beginning approximately ½-inch away from top end and ending approximately ½-inch away from bottom end, stretching it slightly to cover your entire hot dog. I like to leave enough slack to wrap the strip over the first layer and about halfway back up the hot dog on a bit of a diagonal (see photos and video below). Leave a small opening near the top for your candy eyes to be placed where the “face” would be. Place your wrapped hot dogs on your prepared sheet pan. Bake for 13 to 17 minutes or until the “bandages” turn golden brown. Once golden brown, remove your hot dogs from the oven and place your small cheese slices in the openings you left for the faces. Return them to the oven for 1 minute, or just until your cheese has melted.

When your cheese has melted, remove your hot dogs from the oven and gently place two of your candy eyes into the melted cheese on every one of your Mummy Hot Dogs. Serve warm with your choice of dipping sauce.
