Whether you are looking for a festive, sweet addition to a holiday gathering or birthday party or just a bonus treat to accompany a gift for a friend, this recipe is perfect to suit your needs! I love making these Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods for my parties, because they not only are delicious, but they also decorate your dessert table in the most lovely way! That’s why it was a no-brainer to include them in the desserts I will be serving at Sky’s 3rd Birthday Party. The best thing (aside from tasting amazing) about these pretzel rods is that you can whip them up in 15 minutes flat!
So let’s talk about the ingredients. For this treat, you will need pretzel rods, your choice of chocolate (you can use candy melts or chocolate chips), different colored chocolate chips or candy melts to drizzle over the pretzel rods, and/or sprinkles to decorate them.

To make these Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods, begin by preparing a cookie sheet with a sheet of wax or parchment paper and set it aside until you are ready to use it.
Empty the candy melts or chocolate chips into a tall drinking glass. Microwave on high in thirty second bursts for up to two minutes, stirring after every 30 seconds, until the chocolate has melted completely. Do not overheat, as the chocolate will seize.
Remove the glass from the microwave and gently turn it on its side allowing the chocolate to run toward the rim of the glass. Insert the pretzel rod into the glass and twist it around in the chocolate to coat the length of the pretzel rod. Scrape the bottom surface of the pretzel rod along the rim of the glass while pulling it out of the chocolate and rest it on the prepared cookie sheet. Repeat this process with the remaining 11 pretzel rods.

Top the pretzel rods with sprinkles or drizzle different colors of chocolate on top. Allow the pretzels to rest on the counter until the chocolate hardens before transferring to an air-tight container; about 30 minutes. Do not refrigerate your pretzel rods to speed up the hardening process, as the moisture from the refrigerator will turn the exposed portion of your pretzel rod stale.
Don’t lock yourself into only making these for parties. They can also be made and stored as daily snacks for your family at home or to throw in your children’s (or your) packed lunch. If you have children, make sure you also include them in making these, as they can be so much fun to decorate.
